Bringing People Together, One Tile at a Time
For thousands of years, people have used repeating tiles to create beautiful patterns on the floors, walls, ceilings - of important monuments and religious structures.
Tess is a pattern-building game using tiles based on the Penrose rhombus—a special mathematical shape that, when placed correctly, creates patterns that never repeat. Invented by mathematician Roger Penrose (yes, he even patented them), these tiles have a kind of quiet magic.
Of course, Sud and I like to bend the rules a little—so our version doesn’t follow all of Penrose’s rules—but it still gives rise to stunning, unique designs in every game. You can see examples on our Instagram @okapia_games.
