Have you ever found yourself in a room with the people you care most about—your parents, children, friends—and yet, somehow, you’re not really connecting? Like every word only builds more distance? It was one such hot afternoon in Chennai. I had just missed an important family event and felt hesitant about meeting everyone. I suggested to my sister that we go to a board game café. That day, over a game of Ticket to Ride, something shifted. We played, laughed, and reconnected. That power—of games to bring people closer—is what we love about board gaming. But as game designers and enthusiasts in India, we noticed something: many great games are hard to find here. They’re often imported, expensive, of inconsistent quality, or, worse, fake. So we decided to build something better. Games made in India, by us. Games that bring people together. So for our next game, Tess, we knew we wanted something more relaxed. A game you could build together. While Tess isn’t quite cooperative, it does offer that shared sense of creation. Our mission is to bring people together through the joy of shared play, one game at a time.

Our first game, Kotay, is a deep, strategic, psychological thriller—something like Age of Empires meets Settlers of Catan, with a touch of Battle for Wesnoth. It’s intense and combative (some say it helps you meet your true self), but not exactly the easiest way to bond with family. It took us years to develop, involved over 300 components, and only 10 handmade sets exist so far—with a growing waitlist.

So for our next game, Tess, we knew we wanted something more relaxed. A game you could build together. While Tess isn’t quite cooperative, it does offer that shared sense of creation.
